Welcome Reception on the Danube

Celebrate the opening of the 53rd World Groundwater Congress aboard the Europa Boat, the largest event ship on the Danube, for an unforgettable evening.

During this two-hour standing reception, guests will enjoy a selection of delicious finger foods and drinks while cruising through the heart of the Hungarian capital. The route offers spectacular views of Budapest's UNESCO World Heritage riverfront, including iconic landmarks such as Buda Castle, the Chain Bridge, Gellért Hill and the magnificent Hungarian Parliament illuminated against the evening sky.

The Welcome Reception provides the perfect opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, make new acquaintances and begin the Congress in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

The World of Caves

Through an entertaining and visually immersive presentation, we can explore one of the most fascinating outcomes of groundwater activity: the world of caves. Thanks to the stunning visual effects of 3D technology, the audience can feel involved in a special world that very few people have the chance to enter. During the presentation, we guide our audience not only along the most beautiful and protected caves in Hungary but also to many underground landscapes all around the world: classical karst caves, high-mountain ice caves, tropical karst regions and crystal caves will come alive on our screen. The choice of subject is particularly timely as 13 September 2026 has been designated as the first International Day of Caves and Karst, announced in Postojna.

Gala Dinner

The Congress Gala Dinner will take place in the Pátria Hall at the Budapest Congress Center.

Join colleagues and friends for a memorable evening featuring an excellent buffet dinner showcasing a selection of Hungarian and international cuisine. The relaxed atmosphere, carefully selected wines and music will provide the perfect setting to celebrate another successful World Groundwater Congress.
