Discover a hidden world beneath the hills of Budapest during a guided visit to the Szemlő-hegyi Cave, one of the city’s most spectacular and easily accessible caves. Often referred to as Budapest’s “underground flower garden”, the cave is famous for its unusual mineral formations covering the walls and its spacious, beautifully illuminated passages. The comfortable, paved visitor route makes the cave suitable for visitors of all ages.
The guided tour takes approximately 40–50 minutes. The temperature inside the cave is around 12°C throughout the year, so a light jacket or sweater is recommended even in September.
Participants are kindly requested to arrange their own transportation to the cave, as no organised transfer will be provided. The Szemlő-hegyi Cave is located at 35 Pusztaszeri út, District II, approximately 20 minutes by taxi or 35–45 minutes by public transport from the Budapest Congress Center. From the "Csörsz utca" stop near the Budapest Congress Center, take tram 17 to "Kolosy tér", then change to bus 29 and travel to the "Szemlő-hegyi-barlang" stop. The cave entrance is just a short walk from the bus stop.
